New subsidiary of Koppert in Korea
As per June 1 2007, Koppert Biological Systems also has been established in Korea. The official name of the company is Koppert Co. Ltd. The company is located in Hanam, near by Seoul, the capital of South Korea in the province of Kyong-Gi-Do.
Koppert Korea is a majority joint venture with our long standing partner Mr Yung Wook Ra who is appointed as General manager. The company will start production of some selected natural enemies, starting with Amblyseius swirskii (Swirski-Mite), Encarsia Formosa (En-strip) and Phytoseiulus persimilis (Spidex).
The building is being equipped with breeding rooms, offices as well as a plastic greenhouse for production and research purposes. +
Koppert Korea takes over the marketing and distribution rights of bumblebees, natural enemies and Horiver from Mifko, the agent for Koppert in Korea since 1994.
The market for IPM in Asia is developing steadily and Koppert prefers to have a base close to this interesting market. IPM is particularly developing fast in Korea, since the Ministry of Agriculture supports the growers using locally produced beneficials with interesting subsidies. Koppert Korea will now be able to supply the Korean market by providing top quality products, fast and reliable. The main crops in which Koppert Korea will be active are sweet pepper, tomato and strawberry.
