Introduction

  • Spread material on rockwool slabs, in application boxes (DIBOX) or on other dry places under the canopy.
  • Make sure the material remains at its introduction site for at least 10 days.
  • Avoid dehydration of the pupae (spread the material in a shady place)
  • Make sure that there is at least 1 introduction site per 50 m². (C. perminutus is not very mobile)
  • Avoid that ants rob the pupae

Environmental conditions

  • Optimal temperature: 20-30°C
  • Minimal temperature: 9°C
  • Optimal RH: 50-90%

Storage and handling

  • Storage after receipt: 1-2 days
  • Storage temperature: 15-20°C
  • In the dark

Appearance

  • Adults: black wasp 3 mm
  • Eggs and larvae: develop inside the host
  • Pupae: yellow, 3-4 mm. In older pupae the development of the black adult wasp can be seen through the skin of the pupae.

Mode of action

Adult female parasitic wasp parasitizes mealy bugs, mainly the second larval stage.

Visual effect

A few days after the mealy bug larvae is parasitized the colour change to brownish. However most of the parasitized larvae fall down from the plant, which makes it difficult to monitor the effect.
