How to get a better performance from a Natupol colony in winter
1. Allow maximum daylight for the colony. Place the colonies in a high position (150 cm) in or above the crop. In springtime and summer it is necessary to protect the colonies against the heat from the sun, so they should be placed lower in the crop (40 cm from the floor).
2. Help the bumblebees to find their hive. Do not make large groups of colonies. If multiple hives are grouped together, turn the door openings in different directions. Place the hives close to the isle.
3. Close the hives after a maximum of 12 weeks. This prevents workers from moving into the finished hives.
Take care to have a good climate for your plants. When minimizing ventilation the relative humidity level can increase. High humidity (>85%) leads to sticky pollen that the plant is unable to release.
