Introduction

Sprinkle mummies with buckwheat on rock wool or in DIBOX in small heaps (not thicker than 2 cm!) and leave it there for at least one week.

Environmental conditions

Not active at high temperatures (above 30°C)

Storage and handling

Biological beneficials have a very short life expectancy and therefore need to be introduced into the crop as soon as possible after receipt. Storing them for a period can have a negative impact on their quality and is only possible under the conditions described below. Koppert B.V. is not liable for any loss of quality if the product is stored for longer than recommended and/or under incorrect conditions.

  • Storage after receipt: 1-2 days
  • Storage temperature: 8-10°C/47-50°F
  • In the dark

Appearance

Adults: size 4-5 mm, black

Other stages: develop inside host

Mode of action

Female adult parasitic wasp parasitizes the aphid.

Visual effect

Parasitized aphid swells and hardens into a leathery, grey or brown coloured mummy. The adult parasite emerges through a round hole at the rear of the mummy. The first mummies can be seen in the crop approximately 2 weeks after the first introduction.
