WATERTRAP
A patented trap system with an easy to handle size, furnished with a system for the control of the water level, to be used in combination with Pherodis pheromones.
Use
For mass trapping of butterflies and moths inside or outside the greenhouse. In combination with other measures, water traps help to achieve effective in control of f.i.Tuta absoluta, the South America tomato pinworm.
Quantity to be used
Use 20-25 traps per ha (30 traps in the case of greenhouse covered with netting) uniformly distributed in the walking path and plant lines .
Procedure
- put the traps in the greenhouse when preparing the soil or at the moment of transplanting.
- keep minimum distance of 15-20 m between two traps
- place it on the soil, rockwool or at maximum height of 40 cm
- water supply must be granted to be sure of the correct functioning of the trap
- replace the pheromones every 4-6 weeks
Assembly
- put the pheromone (also supplied by Koppert) in its green container and fix it on the upper central part of the trap (the pheromone capsule is located and protected in the centre of the traps)
- fill the trap with water till the top
- connect it with the dripper and check that it drips properly into the trap.
- add a small quantity of vegetal oil or liquid soap as wetting agent

Storage and handling
The water trap itself requires no special storage conditions.
Mode of action
The capsule releases the scent of a species-specific sex pheromone. This scent lures adult males of the relevant butterfly/moth species into the trap.

The introduction rates of this product should be adjusted to the mode of action of the product and the results that can be expected in the crop where the product is applied. Your local Koppert consultant or recognized distributor will be able to advise you further.
