Remarks
CRYPTOBUG gives inadequate control of heavy infestations of Pseudococcus affinis in tomato.
Appearance
Adults: size 4 mm, red-brown, dark-brown wingcovers
Eggs: white, oblong, in mealybug colonies
Larvae: size to 13 mm, body is covered with wax-like filaments. Resemble their host, but are more robust and mobile
Pupae: in hidden places on the underside of leaves or at vein junctions
Mode of action
Predatory beetles and larvae eat the mealybugs completely.
Visual effect
Mealybugs are eaten completely. Activity of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is also indicated by the presence of empty egg pouches. Larvae can also be seen and look superficially like large mealybugs.
