When to use Appiwasp?
For the biological control of different (stable) flies, like the housefly (Musca domestica), biting stable flies (Stomoxys spp.), and the lesser housefly (Fannia spp.), which comprise 95 percent of the flies in manure accumulations.
How does Appiwasp work?
When the adult parasitic wasp emerges (within 2-5 days after receipt of the product) from the pupal shells, they will start searching for fly pupae. After parasitism, wasps of the new generation can be expected in approximately 2-3 weeks.
How to use Appiwasp
Application Appiwasp
- Distribute the material in heaps near to the places where the flies pupate.
- Make sure the material is distributed on dry places or on dry(er) manure.
- Place close to concrete or stable edges or in furrows.
- If necessary lightly cover the Appiwasp pupae to protect them.
Start introduction as soon as flies can be expected during the fly season. If a population peak of flies can be expected, a more frequent introduction may be necessary to ensure a constant release of wasps. Parasitic wasps are just one tool in an integrated program to control stable flies. In order to have a successful program it is necessary to practice good sanitation to eliminate conditions that are favorable breeding places for flies. Keep manure as dry as possible and avoid spilling water and food. Because wasps only parasitize fly pupae, measurements to eliminate adult flies are also recommended.
Best working conditions for Appiwasp
Efficacy reduces at low (under 15°C) or high temperatures (higher than 38°C).
