In unprotected crops such as cherries, blueberries, grapes, strawberries, and raspberries, it is advisable to hang up the Drososan trap with Fruit Fly Attractant at least four weeks before the first fruits start to ripen in order to capture Drosophila suzukii fruit flies and monitor the level of infestation.
By checking these traps for the presence of the fruit fly Drosophila suzukii every week, you can monitor the level of infestation and determine whether you need to intervene. Check the contents of the trap using a magnifying glass and count the male Suzukii fruit flies. They can be identified by the black dots on the wings. Females look the same as all other fruit flies.
The Drososan trap has been specifically developed to combat the fruit fly. For instance, the trap is now coloured red – a colour known to be particularly attractive to the harmful fruit fly. In addition, the openings in the mesh have been tailored precisely to the fruit fly and designed in such a way that pollinators are not captured too. Independent research has shown that the Drososan trap used with Fruit Fly Attractant gives the best results in the field compared to other fruit fly traps.
