Queen Máxima attends opening of World Horti Center

NAALDWIJK, THE NETHERLANDS - On Wednesday, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands opened the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk. The knowledge and innovation centre is a unique collaboration between education, research, government, and business. Carola Schouten, the Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, was also present at the official opening and highlighted the international leading position of the horticultural sector in her speech.
After the official opening, Queen Máxima was given a tour during which it was explained how education, research, businesses, and government work together to create innovations and sustainable developments. The Queen also visited the classrooms of MBO Westland secondary school and the high-tech mechatronics room. She was shown the research greenhouses and the year-round trade fair. All links in the horticultural chain, represented by approximately 100 businesses, have a stand all-year round at this permanent trade fair where they exhibit the latest innovations and developments. During the tour of the exhibition space, Queen Máxima also visited Koppert’s stand.
In the exhibition space, Koppert shows visitor which, sometimes very simple, measures are possible to work with less or no chemical products at all.
