Our partner, CABI has recently launched a renewed website of its BioProtection Portal. By putting improved, intuitive navigation at the core of its design, and a refreshed, user-friendly look, they have made the portal even easier for visitors to locate information about the many biological solutions available in markets worldwide.

Koppert has collaborated with CABI since 2013. The BioProtection Portal partner agreement was signed in 2019. 'We believe the Bioprotection portal is an important tool to make more people aware of the available biological solutions for pest and disease control as an alternative for chemical pesticides, not only for growers but also policymakers,' says Accountmanager CABI, Johannette Klapwijk of Koppert.

The portal provides users with up-to-date information on nationally registered and available biological control and biopesticide products. A user testing exercise in Kenya last year helped the website development team better understand the needs of the portal’s visitors. Taking on board this feedback, the team updated the look and feel of the website and tailored the user experience accordingly.

The new homepage includes user testimonials, personal experiences and insights of using the portal to help visitors understand, first-hand, how this free online resource can support the move toward biological control of pests.

Putting biological crop protection information in the hands of those who need it

The CABI BioProtection Portal is a ground-breaking online information resource for non-chemical pest control. Available on four continents and in local languages, its goal is to help growers and agricultural advisors to identify, source and correctly apply suitable products for the biological control of pests. It aims to promote awareness and uptake of more sustainable approaches to agriculture and horticulture worldwide. This innovative tool can be accessed on multiple devices, putting valuable information in the hands of those who need it.

Looking ahead, the organization have plans for continuous improvements to the portal. The product search area of the website is being developed to match the new look and feel, which will be released later this year. CABI aims to develop and grow the portal, not only in terms of partners and countries covered but also user experience.
